Guardrail maintenance is a "life protection project," and it is by no means a trivial matter. Systematic daily maintenance ensures that they are operational at critical times and extends their service life. The maintenance work primarily includes inspections, maintenance, repairs, and record-keeping.
Regular inspections
Establish a regular inspection system, which includes daily patrols, periodic detailed inspections, and special checks.
Routine Inspection:The maintenance or road patrol personnel complete these inspections while conducting their routine road surveys, primarily focusing on obvious damages such as missing guardrails, distorted sections, visibly tilted or broken posts, etc.
Regular Detailed InspectionsQuarterly or bi-annually, professionals conduct close inspections. The content includes: examining for rust on the galvanized layer, the extent and area of rust; checking for missing or loose bolts; verifying the straightness of the railing and if the height meets standards; inspecting the stability of the column's connection to the foundation; and ensuring key components like the stoppers and ends are in good condition.
Special Inspection:Following traffic accidents, natural disasters (such as earthquakes, floods, landslides), or severe weather conditions, immediate special inspections of guardrails on affected road sections should be conducted.
