A economizer is a commonly used boiler component, typically located at the rear of the boiler, primarily serving to recover waste heat from flue gases and enhance the overall thermal efficiency of the system.
The economizer consists of a series of serpentine pipes, typically made from corrosion-resistant and high-temperature alloys. Inside these pipes flows the boiler's outflow, while outside, flue gases circulate. As the flue gases pass through these pipes, heat is transferred from the gases to the water, raising the outflow temperature. This preheats the water before entering the next boiler, reducing heat loss and improving the system's thermal efficiency.
The design of economizers must consider factors such as boiler size, flue gas temperature and flow, as well as the material's corrosion resistance and high-temperature performance. Its installation and maintenance should also be carried out according to specific circumstances to ensure long-term stable operation.
