The multi-functional magnetic particle inspection machine for rail bearing, also known as the powder probe machine, is a semi-automatic wet magnetic particle inspection equipment controlled by a microcomputer. It is suitable for magnetic particle inspection of circular ferromagnetic parts like bearing rings and similar shapes. The machine is core-controlled by a programmable logic controller (PLC) and can control the mechanical action program of the system, completing all the inspection process except for manual observation of defects according to the programmed sequence. It can be operated automatically or manually in step-by-step mode. The circumferential magnetization is achieved using the rod insertion method, while the longitudinal magnetization employs the coil induction method to achieve alternating composite magnetization of the workpiece, thereby preventing burnishing. Our factory-developed silicon-controlled rectifier triggering system features phase control during power-off, preventing missed detection in alternating current magnetization. This allows for a single magnetic charging to detect extremely fine defects on the surface and inside of the workpiece caused by material, forging, quenching, grinding, and fatigue, such as cracks and inclusions.
