Magnetic particle inspection machines, as mechanical devices used for surface processing inspections of small and medium-sized parts, are widely used due to their flexible operation. They can be manually controlled step by step or operated in an automatic cycle, suitable for a variety of workpiece inspections. Magnetic particle inspection is suitable for detecting small surface and near-surface dimensions, narrow gaps (such as cracks as long as 0.1mm and as narrow as micrometers) in ferromagnetic material workpieces, as well as defects that are difficult to see with the naked eye.
2. Suitable for inspecting raw materials designated for processing (such as steel billets), semi-finished and finished products, as well as in-service and used workpieces.
3. Suitable for detecting surface and near-surface defects such as cracks, white spots, streaks, folds, porosity, cold shuts, blow holes, and inclusions, but not suitable for detecting shallow and wide scratches on the surface, pinhole-like defects, deeply embedded internal defects, and defects with an angle less than 20° between the extension direction and the magnetic line direction.
4. The magnetic particle inspection machine is suitable for detecting martensitic stainless steel and precipitation-hardening stainless steel materials, but not for detecting austenitic stainless steel materials (such as 1Cr18Ni9) and welds welded with austenitic stainless steel filler wire, nor for detecting non-magnetic materials such as copper, aluminum, magnesium, and titanium alloys.
5. Magnetic particle inspection machines are suitable for detecting steel pipes, bars, plates, sections, forgings, castings, and welded components.
