Study on the Adaptability of Aluminum-Magnesium Plate in Extreme Weather Conditions
For extreme environments such as the Arctic Circle and the Sahara Desert, our research team has developed "gradient coating" technology. This involves enriching magnesium (up to 5% content) on the coating surface to form a dense magnesium oxide protective layer, and enriching aluminum (up to 15% content) on the matrix side to build a shock-resistant buffer layer. This structure enables the sheets to retain 85% of their impact toughness at -50°C低温 and only see a 5% decrease in coating adhesion at 70°C. Real-world data from the Yamal LNG project in Russia shows that magnesium-aluminum plated sheets produced with this technology have not experienced any coating delamination after operating in -52°C cold conditions for 5 years, demonstrating a longer lifespan than traditional materials.
