Double-sided face grinding machines perform grinding by using the two wheel faces of two abrasive wheels to grind the two parallel faces of the workpiece. There are two methods: with a horizontal shaft and a turntable bearing. The workpiece is guided correctly by linear or turntable feeding machines and passes through the abrasive wheel. These grinding machines have high power output and are suitable for mass production of parts such as roller bearing rings and engine pistons. Compared to surface grinding machines using edge grinding, surface grinding machines with wheel faces have larger wheel diameters, allowing for simultaneous grinding of the full width of the workpiece, resulting in a larger grinding area and higher production efficiency. However, during double-sided face grinding, the abrasive wheel and the workpiece surface are in contact with an arc-shaped line, resulting in a large contact area, difficulty in cooling, and difficulty in chip removal, thus slightly lower machining accuracy and surface roughness. Compared to rectangular table surface grinding machines, round table surface grinding machines have slightly higher production efficiency, mainly because the round table is continuous cutting, while the rectangular table is affected by phase change time.
