HG/T 20581-2011 Steel Usage Restrictions and Scope:

Carbon steel and low-alloy steel pipes produced in accordance with GB/T 8163 " Seamless Steel Tubes for Fluid Transportation," GB 3087 "Seamless Steel Tubes for Low and Medium Pressure Boilers," and GB 9948 "Seamless Steel Tubes for Petroleum Cracking" can only be used for pressure components under 10.0 MPa.

b) Steel pipes used for pressure components with design pressure of 10.0MPa or more should be seamless pipes that comply with the requirements of "Seamless Steel Tubes for High-pressure Fertilizer Equipment" GB6479, "Seamless Steel Tubes for High-pressure Boilers" GB5310, or "Seamless Stainless Steel Tubes for Fluid Transportation" GB/T14976.

New GB150.2-2011 Material Requirements:

The specifications for the use of steel pipes with grades 10, 20, and Q345D according to GB/T 8163 are as follows:

a) Not for use in heat exchanger tubes.

b) Design pressure not exceeding 4.0 MPa

c) The minimum usage temperatures for the 10, 20, and Q345D steel pipes are -10°C, 0°C, and -20°C, respectively.

d) The wall thickness of the steel pipes does not exceed 10mm.

(e) Not to be used with media that are extremely or highly toxic.
