What is the working principle of a pipe chain conveyor?

The Chain Conveyer consists mainly of conveying belts, pipes, and chains. The conveying belt is connected to the chains, moving through the propulsion of the chains; the pipes form a closed environment around the conveying belt. The Chain Conveyer is a device used for conveying bulk materials, employing a tubular or trough-like structure to transport materials via chains. The working principle of the Chain Conveyer can be simply summarized as: materials enter the conveyer from the feeding opening, gradually moving forward under the propulsion of the chains. During this movement, materials are restricted by the conveying belt and pipes, forming a continuous flow. The following will provide a detailed explanation of the working principle of the Chain Conveyer, preventing material spillage; the chains are driven by a motor or other power source to propel the movement of the conveying belt.

During operation, materials enter the chain conveyor through the feeding opening and are transported onto the conveyor belt. The belt is lifted by chains and begins to move forward. The driving force for the chains can be provided by an electric motor or hydraulic power. As the chains move forward, the materials on the conveyor belt also advance.

Within the pipeline, materials are confined by the pipe walls and gradually advance as the conveyor belt moves. Due to the rapid speed of the conveyor belt, sufficient friction between materials is achieved, and the materials are constrained by the pipeline, forming a continuous flow. During the conveying process, the gaps between materials also gradually decrease, making the entire material layer more compact.

In addition to the driving force of the chain, the pipe chain conveyor can also employ other auxiliary measures to enhance its conveying capacity. For instance, vibration devices can be added to the conveyor belt to improve material flow; air-cutting devices can be installed within the pipeline to promote material conveyance through air flow. Moreover, selecting the appropriate conveyor belt material based on the characteristics of the material can help reduce friction and resistance.

During the conveying process, material leakage or blockage may occur, which can affect the normal operation of the conveyor. To address this issue, a material leakage detector can be installed on the conveyor belt to detect leaks in a timely manner and take appropriate actions; simultaneously, a flow control device can be installed during the conveying process to monitor the flow rate, preventing excessive or insufficient flow.

Furthermore, for the normal operation of the chain conveyor, proper maintenance and care are essential. For instance, regular cleaning of material residues from the conveyor belt and pipelines to ensure smooth flow; periodic inspection of the chain and transmission mechanism to ensure proper operation; and, based on the characteristics of the conveying material, selecting appropriate conveying speed and material layer thickness to avoid excessive friction and resistance.
