What are the precautions when using grouting materials during renovation?

Grouting materials can be securely bonded or wrapped around hard, clean substrates, but their bonding strength depends on the smoothness of the substrate surface. Since only about 20% of the water needed for hydration is present in the grouting material, the excess water will evaporate, leaving a large number of voids in the grouting material, thereby reducing its strength.

Therefore, grouting materials or plaster layers will gradually erode and disintegrate, hence cement should not be eroded by acid. When constructing a smooth base layer, it is necessary to chisel and brush hemp beforehand to ensure the grout and foundation have a good grip.
1. Avoid excessive water and thick gray substances.
Sometimes, the impact of water usage on the strength of grouting materials is frequently overlooked. During construction, to facilitate pouring, there is sometimes a failure to truly adhere to the mixing ratio, resulting in the grouting material being mixed too thin.
2. Avoid exposure to cold temperatures.
After the grouting material or mortar is mixed, if it freezes, the grouting material cannot undergo hydration, and with the water freezing and expanding, the grouting material or mortar will suffer from a gradual, deepening powder酥 destruction from the surface to the inside. Therefore, it is necessary to follow the construction requirements. As for the taboos in using cement for home renovation, Dongying Ketai Construction Technology Co., Ltd., drawing on past experience, explains the following:
3. Avoid moisture and hardening
Moisture-absorbed and hardened cement can reduce or even lose its original strength, thus, it is stipulated that cement produced more than 3 months ago should be retested and used according to the test results.

Post-grouting, cracks are a common issue in grouting projects. Therefore, there are preventive measures for grouting material cracks, which are mostly in different reaction stages. Below, let's take a look at the specific construction methods to prevent cracks.
Irregular surface shapes and varying lengths, resembling dried mud, commonly appear in the early stages of grouting (approximately 4 hours after pouring), with significant differences or excessively high temperatures between the grouting material's temperature and the external environment, or extremely dry weather conditions. Plastic cracks, also known as cracks, are strictly dry shrinkage cracks and are very common.
After grouting, the surface was not covered promptly, exposing it to wind and sunlight. The surface free moisture evaporated too quickly, causing a sharp shrinkage in volume. However, at this stage, the early strength of the grouting material was low, unable to withstand this deformation stress, leading to cracking.
2. High-compression cement usage, excessive cement application, or overuse of silt
3) The cementitious material has an excessively high water-cement ratio, and the formwork is too dry.
