What are the characteristics of silicate polystyrene board? In fact, silicate polystyrene board is made by siliconizing organic polystyrene boards, which is equivalent to applying a layer of fire-retardant material to the surface of the polystyrene granular macromolecules on a common polystyrene board.
Post-siliconized expanded polystyrene has increased bulk density, yet it maintains the original expanded polystyrene's excellent insulation properties. Additionally, it vitrifies under fire, enhancing its fire resistance. However, the fire rating of siliconized polystyrene can only reach B1 level. Moreover, its tensile and compressive strengths are low (tensile strength ≥ 7.5 KPa, compressive strength ≥ 40 KPa), resulting in insufficient toughness. Additionally, it is more expensive than standard B1-grade expanded polystyrene, which diminishes its competitiveness in the market.
