In accordance with the requirements for batteries used within explosion-proof enclosures as specified in Appendix E of GB/T 3836.2-2021, equipment protected by the explosion-proof enclosure "d" can house batteries or battery packs that supply power to the circuit. However, not all types of batteries are permissible for installation within the explosion-proof enclosure.

Batteries contained within explosion-proof enclosures, regardless of the type of electrochemical cell, should consider preventing the formation of flammable mixtures from electrolytic gases (typically H2 and O2) within the enclosure. Therefore, batteries that may release electrolytic gases during normal operation (through natural exhaust ports or pressure relief valves) should not be used within explosion-proof enclosures. (The standard specifies that these requirements do not apply to electrochemical batteries used in measuring devices, such as: those that comply with ...)GB/T 8897.1A type zinc/oxygen battery, as specified in the Chinese regulations for measuring oxygen concentration.
Appendix E explicitly stipulates that only batteries that meet the standards listed in Tables E.1 and E.2 are allowed within explosion-proof enclosures. Compared to the Appendix E of standard GB 3836.2-2010, there has been an addition of...A primary battery with oxygen as the positive electrode, zinc as the negative electrode, and ammonium chloride and zinc chloride as the electrolyte.RemovedPrimary battery with silver oxide as the positive electrode, zinc as the negative electrode, and alkali metal hydride as the electrolyte; and a primary battery with mercury as the positive electrode, zinc as the negative electrode, and alkali metal hydride as the electrolyte.Battery requirements remain unchanged.
Universal Requirements
The following usage restrictions apply to certain types of batteries:
Do not use exhaust-type or open-type batteries within explosion-proof enclosures to form a battery assembly.
Valve-regulated sealed batteries can be used within explosion-proof enclosures, but are only for discharge purposes.
In compliance with the E.5 explosion-proof enclosure battery charging requirements, sealed batteries can be charged within the explosion-proof enclosure.
Flameproof enclosures containing batteries should be equipped with a warning sign that reads: "Warning: Do not open in the presence of explosive gas environments." When the battery and its connected circuitryGB/T 3836.4This requirement does not apply if the battery is not charging during operation.
Battery packs and their associated safety devices should be securely mounted (e.g., using clamps or brackets designed for this purpose).
There should be no relative displacement between the battery and its connected safety devices, otherwise it may hinder compliance with the requirements for the relevant explosion-proof type.
According toGB/T 3836.1In accordance with the requirements, it is advisable to inspect whether the item meets the requirements of Article 5 and 6 before and after the shell test.
