After the sludge and the added flocculant are thoroughly mixed, they enter the gravity dewatering zone of the belt filter press, where a significant amount of water is removed due to the sludge's own gravity. The gravity zone is equipped with a mud distributor, which evenly distributes the sludge on the filter belt. It then enters the wedge-shaped compression dewatering section between the upper and lower mesh belts for preliminary compression dewatering, before proceeding to the compression zone to form a sludge cake.
During the operation of a belt filter press, if the operator fails to adhere to the relevant operating standards, issues such as the sudden opening of valves during slurry feeding, resulting in excessive pressure differences between the filter plates, or inadequate cleaning of the slurry feed holes in the filter frame during cake discharge, which can lead to clogging, may cause the belt filter press to burst plates. If the temperature of the solution after the trough of the belt filter press does not meet the process requirements due to shift changes or power outages, and equipment damage leads to a drop in solution temperature, the reduced temperature results in poor filtration performance, causing the pump to overburden. When the solution pressure exceeds the load-bearing capacity of the plastic filter plates, they may burst. If the filtrate contains iron gel, making filtration difficult, and if the slurry feed pressure is high, it can also lead to plate bursting.
To prevent the phenomenon of bursting plates in belt filter presses, it is essential to enhance the sense of responsibility and technical training for operating the belt filter presses, strictly control the opening speed of valves, and frequently inspect the condition of the feed inlet; necessary modifications must be made when the sludge quality is substandard.
