In rural areas, if the surface is not promptly treated, the original rusted and peeling layers are not properly cleaned, sanded, and polished before painting, which can greatly reduce the adhesion between the paint and the surface, leading to peeling. Secondly, the key issue is the purchase of non-specialized materials. Unlike steel frame and steel columns, which can be painted with any corrosion-resistant paint, the repair and painting of color steel flat roofs requires high compatibility with the materials used. One, the lifespan of paint is relatively short, which is a different matter from the paint applied to color steel panels during production. Color steel panels are painted under high-temperature, clean, and natural conditions during manufacturing, resulting in a relatively high color fastness. However, when we carry out paint coating solutions for flat roof repairs and industrial building renovations, it is done under geographical conditions. The paint is prone to peeling off, leading to further rust and corrosion of the color steel panels. Such solutions typically have a lifespan of 1-2 years.
Secondly, unlike other metal products (such as building rebar, iron railing, etc.), steel roof tiles present a unique challenge: corrosion. It is not easily detectable and requires maintenance personnel to frequently inspect flat roofs to maintain an effective inspection cycle of about every six months. Steel roof tiles have a lifespan, and the time for corrosion to appear varies depending on the quality and the local environment. According to experience, most steel roof tiles in China are prone to corrosion issues within 5 to 10 years of use. If flash rust or localized corrosion occurs, it should be addressed promptly. The sooner the solution is implemented, the easier it will be, until all the paint peels off and the entire steel roof tile turns black, at which point only a replacement of the steel roof tiles is necessary.
