Diesel generators must be checked and started according to the correct procedure, especially diesel generator sets, which require more checks. Moreover, the startup time for diesel generator sets is not long, but the startup time for domestic and imported diesel generators is different. Next, let's find out:
Diesel Generator Set Start-up Time
From ignition to stable power generation, imported units take approximately 5-15 seconds, while domestic units take around 15-30 seconds.
Diesel engines consume more fuel and experience greater component wear at low water temperatures. After starting, the load should be gradually increased, and only after the water temperature is normal can the engine be operated at full load.
If automatic loading cannot control the load, it should wait until the water temperature is basically normal (above 70 degrees Celsius) before "loading."
Diesel Generator Set Startup Fault Resolution
1. Inspect the oil level gauge in the diesel engine's oil sump to investigate if the oil viscosity is too low or if there is an excessive amount of oil. This could cause the oil to enter the combustion chamber, evaporate into vapor, and escape unburned through the exhaust pipe. However, upon inspection, the quality and quantity of the oil are in compliance with the diesel engine's oiling specifications.
2. Loosen the high-pressure oil pump vent screw, then pump the hand oil pump to expel air from the oil line.
3. Secure the return screws for the high and low-pressure diesel engine oil lines.
4. After starting the diesel generator, increase the speed to around 1000 rpm. Check if the speed is stable, but the sound of the diesel engine is still unstable, and the issue has not been resolved.
5. Conducted an oil-cutting test on each of the four high-pressure oil pipes above the top cylinder of the high-pressure oil pump. The results showed that the blue smoke phenomenon disappeared after the third cylinder was disconnected. After shutting down, the injector of the third cylinder was removed and subjected to an injection pressure test, revealing that the injector parts in the third cylinder were experiencing a slight dripping phenomenon with very little oil.
6. Extract a thin copper wire close to the diameter of the spray nozzle from a thin wire, and clear the nozzle. After clearing, the spray nozzle components performed normally. Then, the fuel injector was installed, the diesel engine was started, and the blue smoke emission was no longer present, but the engine speed was still unstable.
7. Remove the high-pressure fuel pump assembly and perform a technical inspection of the governor's interior. Discover that the regulating rack is not responsive. After repairing, adjusting, and reinstalling, start the diesel engine to reach approximately 700 rpm, and investigate whether the engine operation is smooth.
