The "11.15 Jiaozhou Road Fire" is still vivid in our minds, followed by the "2.3 Shenyang Building Blaze," and in the face of these tragic events, the city's hidden safety hazards are increasingly drawing attention from citizens. Although these fires are related to thermal insulation materials, we can still minimize losses by learning more about fire safety in our daily lives.
Six Escape Methods in a Building Fire
High-rise buildings, due to their unique structure, pose greater risks in the event of a fire compared to ordinary buildings. Mismanagement in such situations can often lead to life-threatening consequences. Therefore, when faced with this scenario, remain calm and do not be afraid or panicked. First, quickly determine which direction in your room is on fire, and then decide on an escape route to avoid mistakenly entering the flames.
If the doors, windows, corridors, or stairs have been blocked by smoke and fire, but there's still a chance to escape, pour water over your head and body, or cover your head with a damp towel or sheet, and wrap yourself in a wet blanket or quilt before making a run to safety.
If the smoke is too thick and people cannot stand upright, they can crawl along the ground or the base of walls to navigate through the danger zone. When stairs have collapsed and adjacent passages are blocked, one can enter another room through a balcony or window, and then quickly escape to the indoor fire elevator or outdoor fire escape stairs.
If the door is sealed by fierce flames, never attempt to open it easily to prevent the fire from spreading indoors. Pour more water on the door to extend the spread time. Simultaneously, extend a piece of clothing out the window or shout loudly to attract the attention of rescue personnel.
If there are rain gutters, downspouts, or lightning rod lines outside the windows, you can climb down using these. Alternatively, you can use a sturdy rope (if one is not readily available) by tearing sheets, curtains, or bedding into strips, twisting them into ropes, and securely tying one end to the window frame or bed frame. Then, descend slowly. If you are too high above the ground, once you reach a safe floor, kick out the glass of the windows you pass through, enter the building, and then proceed to descend from there.
Six, if the distance between your residence and the rooftop is relatively short, you can directly head to the rooftop platform or balcony and wait patiently for the rescue team to arrive. However, under any circumstances, do not jump down directly.
In the event of a building fire, do not panic and remain calm! Only by doing so can you protect yourself, your family, and others.
