Each row contains five tongue leaves bending into the ring, pointing towards the center, where they nearly touch each other. The positions of the upper and lower window rows are staggered, with the total area of the openings generally accounting for about 35% of the ring's surface area. The numerous windows in the ring wall greatly improve the gas and liquid distribution, as well as the mass transfer performance within the packing layer, compared to Raschig rings.
