Use 32 hydraulic oil or 46 in winter?

32# and 46# represent the ISO viscosity of the oil.

The 32# and 46# grades of the same brand are identical in quality (meaning the additives, base oil, etc., are the same); the only differences are in the base oil viscosity and the thickener. The resulting oil film thickness varies.

In most cases, the hydraulic oil temperature should be kept below 50 degrees. For every 10 degrees above 50, the lifespan of the hydraulic oil is cut in half.

Appropriate viscosity and good viscosity-temperature properties are crucial; excessive viscosity leads to energy loss, rapid temperature rise, and potential cavitation in the main oil pump. Insufficient viscosity fails to ensure adequate lubrication, exacerbating wear and increasing system leaks. Viscosity-temperature property refers to the degree of change in viscosity with temperature. As lubrication trends towards higher pressures, its importance becomes even more pronounced. Oxidation stability; oils undergo oxidation at high temperatures, which can generate sludge and other deposits. Over-oxidation can lead to sludge blockages, damaging the hydraulic system. Anti-rust and anti-corrosion properties; oils must have anti-rust and anti-corrosion capabilities to greatly protect metal surfaces.




Bubble resistance and air release, as well as air pollution, are among the causes of hydraulic oil failure. Air in the oil appears as oil bubbles with very little compressibility and air with greater compressibility. When the oil pressure is low, air is released from the oil, leading to bubble and cavitation phenomena. Under high pressure, bubbles are crushed, which can exacerbate the compression and deterioration. During the water resistance process, due to condensation and leaks, water can easily be mixed in. The presence of water intensifies oil oxidation, leading to a decline in the oil's other performance characteristics. Shear stability, when the oil flows through small holes and annular gaps, is subjected to significant shear forces, which can reduce the oil's viscosity-temperature properties.

Antifriction Hydraulic Oil Precautions:


1. Store indoors; if outdoors, lay the barrels flat to prevent water immersion and the fading of labels on the drums.


2. This product should not be mixed with water or contaminated with foreign objects, otherwise it may cause the oil to emulsify, deteriorate, and become ineffective.


Do not mix with other oils to prevent degradation in performance.


4. Select the appropriate oil with the correct viscosity as per the equipment's oiling regulations.


5. Maintain the cleanliness of the hydraulic system by promptly removing sludge and metal shavings from the oil tank.


6. Change the oil based on the oil change reference indicators. During the oil change, ensure that all parts of the equipment are thoroughly cleaned to prevent impurities from mixing into the oil, which may affect the performance.


During storage and use, containers and fueling tools must be clean to prevent contamination of the oil products.


The oil product is mainly suitable for hydraulic oil pumps used in steel friction pairs. When used in hydraulic oil pumps for friction pairs of other materials, it is mandatory to have the oil pump manufacturer or the oil supply unit.
