During the assembly of the oil pump, no oil is added.

 

If engine oil is not added to the gear chamber of the oil pump before installing the repaired oil pump, it may cause the pump to fail to circulate oil, leading to accidents such as gear burning. This is because the gear-type oil pump generates suction by relying on the small clearance between the gears and the inner wall of the housing, as well as the correct clearance between the gears. If oil is not added to the gear chamber during assembly of the pump or after cleaning the pump, it cannot generate sufficient suction. This phenomenon is even more pronounced in gear-type oil pumps with some wear. Therefore, always remember to add engine oil to the gear chamber when installing the oil pump.

 

Utilize multi-viscosity lubricants.

 

 

At high temperatures, it exhibits properties similar to heavy oil, while multi-viscosity lubricants (also known as multi-grade lubricants) possess the properties of light oil at low temperatures. In situations where multi-grade oil is recommended, a single multi-grade oil can replace various single-grade oils. Although multi-grade oils can meet the needs of both extremely cold and warm seasons, as well as heavy-duty engine lubrication, especially for diesel engines that start without difficulty in cold weather, it is generally still recommended to use lubricants with a single viscosity for the sake of engine lubrication and to extend the engine's lifespan. Therefore, do not assume that using multi-viscosity lubricants is preferable.

 

 

Mixed Engine Oils

 

 

 

The base oil is identical except for the viscosity grade, with the distinction lying solely in the variety and quantity of additives. Therefore, lubricant types and quality grades are generally categorized based on the type and amount of additives. Lubricants with different additives should not be mixed, as this may cause a chemical reaction among the additives in the oil, compromising the lubricant's intended effectiveness. With continuous improvements in additives and formulations, universal oils have been developed and produced, such as those used in gasoline and diesel engines, like QE/CCQF/CD. These can be used within the specified grade range. Thus, whether lubricants can be mixed should be determined according to the instructions, fully referencing the oil's name, type, and brand, and selecting the appropriate grade and brand rationally. It should not be used blindly based on experience, nor should they be mixed without proper consideration.

 

 

From a foundational production-oriented nation, we have evolved into an integrated research and production powerhouse. However, the lubricant industry in China has shown new trends in recent years: the supply and demand structure of base oils within the industry is being gradually disrupted. Looking back at the development of China's lubricant industry, there has also been a shift in customer needs towards customization and personalization.

 

 

 

Only accounting for about 2% of the cost of machine equipment usage and maintenance, I can see that the price of lubricants themselves is not high. However, if chosen and used improperly, the resulting losses can be relatively severe. Therefore, users are increasingly valuing the quality and reputation of lubricants, and sensitivity to price is gradually decreasing. This means that companies with core technological strength in lubricants will also possess a stronger comparative advantage during the process of brand reconstruction. It is evident that the competition in China's lubricant industry will gradually move away from the previous price-based competition, evolving into a more refined "quality and brand reputation" competition.
