The corrosion resistance of 2507 duplex stainless steel sheet:
SAF 2507's higher content of chromium and molybdenum endows it with excellent resistance to general corrosion by organic acids such as formic acid and acetic acid. The alloy also demonstrates strong resistance to corrosion by inorganic acids, particularly those containing chlorides.
Compared to 904L, SAF2507 boasts superior corrosion resistance against diluted sulfuric acid containing chlorides. 904L is an austenitic alloy specifically designed for resistance to pure sulfuric acid corrosion. The 316L grade is not suitable for environments with hydrochloric acid, as it may suffer from localized or general corrosion. SAF2507 is suitable for diluted hydrochloric acid environments, offering strong resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
