Points to Note When Using PE Tanks
After the PE tank is installed, it's crucial to pay attention to the usage matters during its operation, otherwise, it may lead to hazardous accidents. Below, I'll discuss the precautions to take when using a PE tank.
1. Full Water Test
Perform a full water test prior to use to ensure there are no leaks in any continuous sections or the drum itself. After the full water test, please completely remove and dry the water in the trough.
Avoid certain liquid chemicals (such as sulfuric acid) as they can react with residual liquids, leading to significant hazards such as drum deformation or dissolution.
2. Recommend using temperature
PE monomer tank slots...within 40°C, reinforced PE tank slots...within 60°C.
Recommended higher operating temperatures are based on water; please refer to the PE resistance table for the actual temperature of the liquid being loaded.
3. Ventilation holes
The purpose of the vent holes is to adjust the pressure inside the drum to be below atmospheric pressure. When pressure is applied to the drum chamber under a sealed condition, it can cause the drum to expand; while extracting air from the chamber leads to a decrease in pressure, which may cause the drum top to collapse and the body to deform.
Please note the tank groove pressure should be within the specified range when in use.
4. Conveying and Filling
Ensure the ventilation holes are kept clear. To avoid the impact of gases produced by solutions inside the drum (such as hydrochloric acid) on the environment, it is recommended to install air treatment equipment for the ventilation holes.
As the liquid in the drum decreases during transportation, the pipeline may vibrate due to the mixing of air; at this point, you should close the valve and stop the water pump motor, then reopen the valve slightly to allow the remaining liquid to be transported. Continuous operation of the water pump motor without liquid can easily cause severe deformation of the drum and damage to the drum top.

The drum is made of polyethylene (PE) and must be kept away from any flame source. When performing reinforcing sleeve welding operations, please maintain a safe distance from the drum to prevent combustion.
6. Routine inspection
The drum tank, piping, and accessories should be regularly inspected. In case of any abnormalities, discontinue use immediately, rectify the issue, and resume only after normal operations are restored and safety is ensured.
Before entering the drum tank, please ensure the interior is thoroughly cleaned. Furthermore, allow for ample circulation of outdoor air within the drum, and only enter after confirming it is safe with a dosimeter.
