Generator Operation Precautions
For new or long-term unused generators, a thorough inspection is required before they are put into normal operation, mainly checking the insulation of the windings and wiring conditions.
During operation, diesel generator sets require constant supervision by a designated person. Monitor power, voltage, current, water temperature, oil temperature, and oil pressure at all times. Record the operation diligently. Strictly prohibit switching positions.
2. During operation, personnel must maintain a safe distance from live equipment and wear proper protective gear. Switching operations must follow the correct sequence; in case of power outage, first disconnect all branch switches, then the main switch, and finally perform the four-to-two switch knife operation. When restoring power, the process is reversed. Normal shutdown requires first removing partial loads, then disconnecting the main switch, followed by shutting down the diesel engine, without allowing the power to be automatically cut off as the engine stops. After shutdown, conduct routine checks on the unit and record operating conditions (work diary).
3. In case of electric shock, quickly turn off the power switch or use an insulating tool to disconnect the power source. Then perform first aid and call for emergency medical assistance. In case of an electrical equipment flood, immediately disconnect the relevant power sources and report to the local power supply company, then extinguish the fire. When extinguishing fires on live equipment, use dry chemical extinguishers, carbon dioxide extinguishers, etc., and do not use water.
4. In case of power outage by the power supply bureau, separate the main incoming switch of the factory power distribution room and the main circuit breaker switch of the generator.
5. Check lubricating oil and coolant. Battery power. Fill up with diesel.
6. Turn on the battery switch. Press the electric start button. Gradually increase speed to the rated high speed.
7. Press the start-generator button. Adjust the frequency to 50 Hz and output voltage to 380 volts. 8. After the unit runs for 5 minutes with no load, connect the generator's main circuit breaker to power on.
9. Power utility interruption leads to equipment shutdown. First, disconnect the main circuit breaker of the generator. Then, close the throttle. Finally, close the main power entry switch in the power distribution room.
