Generator Operation Precautions
For new or long-unused generators, a thorough inspection is mandatory before they can be put into normal operation. This primarily includes checking the insulation condition of the windings and the wiring.
Diesel generator sets require a dedicated person to monitor their operation at all times, checking power, voltage, current, water temperature, oil temperature, and oil pressure, and diligently recording operational data. Strictly prohibited is switching posts without permission.
2. During operation, personnel must maintain a safe distance from live equipment and wear proper protective gear. Switching operations should follow the correct sequence; if power needs to be cut off, first disconnect the branch switches, then the main switch, and finally, switch the four-dual knife switches to the off position. When restoring power, the process is reversed. For normal shutdown, first remove some of the load, then disconnect the main switch, and finally, shut down the diesel engine. It is not allowed to disconnect the main switch only when the diesel engine is turned off. After shutdown, conduct routine checks on the unit and record the operating conditions (work diary).
3. In case of electric shock, immediately shut off the power switch or use an insulating tool to quickly disconnect or isolate the power source. Then perform first aid and call for on-site rescue. If an electrical equipment flood occurs, immediately cut off the relevant power sources and report to the local power supply company, then extinguish the fire. When extinguishing fires on live equipment, use dry chemical extinguishers, CO2 extinguishers, etc., and do not use water.
4. In the event of a power outage by the power supply bureau, separate the main incoming switch of the factory's power distribution room and the main circuit breaker switch of the generator.
5. Check lubricating oil and coolant. Battery power. Fill up with diesel.
6. Turn on the battery switch. Press the electric start button. Gradually increase the speed to the rated high speed.
7. Press the start-generator button. Adjust the frequency to 50 hertz and output voltage to 380 volts. 8. After the unit runs at no-load warm-up for 5 minutes, connect the generator's main circuit breaker to supply power.
9. Power outage leads to equipment shutdown. First, disconnect the main circuit breaker of the generator. Then, close the throttle. Finally, close the main incoming switch of the power distribution room.
