China has a nearly 40-year history in the production and application of plastic pipes, but significant development has only occurred in the past decade. According to relevant statistics, the annual output of plastic pipes and fittings in China has increased from 200,000 tons to 600,000 tons over the past 10 years, with an average annual growth rate of about 20%. It is reported that the applications of plastic pipes can be roughly divided into eight categories: indoor water supply pipes, building water supply pipes, building drainage pipes, buried drainage pipes, gas transmission pipes, electrical conduit sleeves, agricultural pipes, and industrial pipes. Among them, the development of building water supply and drainage pipes is rapid, followed by good progress in industrial and agricultural pipes. However, there is a significant gap in the development of buried drainage pipes and gas transmission pipes compared to international standards.

Compared to pipe development, the progress of plastic valves and other pipe fittings in our country is somewhat lagging behind. According to the theories of relevant experts, the reasonable ratio of building pipes and fittings should be 8:1. However, according to statistics from 1998, the production capacity ratio of plastic pipes and fittings used in construction in our country was approximately 20:1. In recent years, the production capacity of plastic pipe fittings has slightly increased, but it is still very unbalanced. Most of the participants in the plastic pipe fitting production are small enterprises, with very few large and medium-sized enterprises.

Additionally, China currently lacks a unified and comprehensive technical and quality standard for plastic pipe fittings. As a result, domestic plastic pipe fitting products, in terms of variety and quality, are far from satisfactory, especially plastic valves, which are more unsatisfactory due to their higher production difficulty, failing to meet the needs of many fields.

The demand for plastic valve products in the market primarily stems from two aspects: first, their compatibility with plastic piping materials; second, the unique advantages of plastic valves, which include excellent corrosion resistance, durability, fatigue resistance, and insulation properties, as well as lightweight and high processing efficiency. Abroad, plastic valves are widely used in industries such as chemicals, food processing, indoor and outdoor water supply and drainage, electromechanical products, and agriculture. It is expected that plastic valve products with high quality, performance, and competitive pricing have significant market potential domestically, even after China's entry into the WTO, making them excellent products for participating in international market competition.
