Geosynthetic waterproofing mats are specialized soil-textile materials used for preventing leakage in artificial lakes, landfill sites, underground garages, rooftop gardens, ponds, oil storage facilities, and chemical storage yards. They are made by filling high-expansive sodium bentonite between a custom composite geotextile and non-woven fabric, and the needle-punched bentonite waterproofing pads can form numerous small fiber spaces, preventing the bentonite particles from flowing in one direction. When in contact with water, they create a uniform, high-density gel-like waterproof layer within the pad, effectively preventing water leakage. Bentonite waterproofing mats can be categorized by their production process into: needle-punched sodium bentonite waterproofing mats, needle-punched coated sodium bentonite waterproofing mats, and adhesive sodium bentonite waterproofing mats. The needle-punched coated sodium bentonite waterproofing mat is a type where a high-density polyethylene geotextile film is coated on the non-woven geotextile surface of the needle-punched sodium bentonite waterproofing mat.
