Your all-wood cable drums are used for small cables, and their method is roughly similar to that of steel frame drums.
1. First, determine the dimensions. Generally, the width is twenty times the cable outer diameter, and the drum diameter is 10-15 times the cable outer diameter.
2. Produce the reel shaft (the rotating shaft of the cable reel). First, make two round plates to serve as the foundation for the cable reel.
3. Attach a guardboard to the outer side of the drum and lay wooden planks on the inner side (for cable winding).
Specific Procedures:
1. Manufacturing shaft brackets. Create two circular plates by subtracting the thickness of the wood board from the shaft diameter (ensuring the diameter after nailing the board is the shaft's diameter). The plates should be double the thickness of the wood board (for added stability after attaching the backing). Drill a hole at the center for the shaft to pass through.
2. Fabricate baffles. Cut materials according to baffle dimensions, making two circular baffles and attaching them to the outer side of the disc (also with holes drilled at the center).
3. Assemble the drum. Nail the wooden boards onto the drum support to form a cylindrical shape.
4. Nail the baffle. Attach the baffle to both sides of the drum.
