How to Install Fire Retardant Board?
Prepare materials, glue, and cutting tools.
Preparation of fire-resistant panels, substrates, and adhesives is required. The fire-resistant panels should be neatly placed on a dry site, avoiding direct contact with the ground, and carbon steel cutting tools are recommended.
2. Cutting Fire Retardant Boards
Cut the fire-resistant board to the required size using cutting tools, ensuring that each edge is left with an extra 6mm for trimming purposes. Be mindful that when cutting, the saw teeth should enter from the backside of the board to avoid creating notches on the cut surface.
3. Vertical Surface Fire Retardant Edge Strips
First, apply adhesive using both spraying and brushing methods to the back of the vertical surface, the edges of the substrate, and the back of the edge strip. After approximately 5-10 minutes, once the adhesive has dried (not sticky to the touch), carefully attach the edge strip to the vertical edge of the substrate. Then, use a roller or press to apply pressure and trim away any excess material.
4. Level Surface Fire Retardant Panel
Apply adhesive to the back of the fire-resistant panel and the horizontal surface of the substrate. Once it is no longer sticky to the touch, place the fire-resistant panel onto the substrate. If the adhesive area is large, first place wooden strips spaced apart on the substrate, then place the fire-resistant panel on top. After aligning it, remove the wooden strips and press the fire-resistant panel onto the substrate.
5. Pressure-removing air
When pressing the fire-retardant panel onto the substrate, it is important to remove the air between the panels. Then, either roll it evenly with a roller or send it through a cold press, or apply pressure through a rotating drum. Ensure the adhesive is evenly distributed and avoid any trapped air inside.
Edge trimming and cleaning
Remove excess edges using trimming tools, then smooth the seams with a sharper file, ensuring to file downwards only, never back and forth, to avoid an uneven, rough surface. Next, clean any oozed glue with a small cloth and solvent.
