On July 31st, the State Council Information Office held a regular press briefing to introduce measures for the recovery and expansion of consumption. Deputy Director Li Chunlin of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) stated at the meeting that in rural logistics, some goods in rural supermarkets and small stores are more expensive than in urban areas. Logistics costs are a major factor contributing to the "upside-down" price phenomenon between urban and rural areas, which not only increases the living costs for rural residents but also hinders the release of rural consumption potential. The NDRC will focus on promoting the smooth two-way circulation channels for goods between urban and rural areas, such as vigorously developing rural live-streaming e-commerce and instant retail, and encouraging e-commerce platforms and enterprises to enrich product and service supplies for rural residents. It will also improve the three-level (county, town, village) express delivery and logistics distribution system, accelerate the enhancement of comprehensive levels of e-commerce and express delivery in rural areas, construct comprehensive service stations for village-level postal and express logistics, deploy smart parcel boxes in rural areas where conditions permit, increase the density of rural retail outlets, and gradually reduce logistics distribution costs.
