The Difference Between Stainless Steel Decorative Tubes and Stainless Steel Industrial Tubes: Which is More Expensive?

Stainless steel decorative pipes typically use materials like 201 and 304 stainless steel. In harsh outdoor conditions or coastal areas, 316 stainless steel is often chosen, as long as the environment doesn't easily cause oxidation and rust. Industrial pipes, however, have higher material requirements, usually opting for 304, 316, and 316L grades.

Additionally, the thickness of the stainless steel decorative tubes is relatively thin, with the thinnest being as thin as 0.2mm, while the thickest can only reach 4.0mm; however, industrial stainless steel tubes are generally thicker. In terms of material selection and thickness, we know that industrial tubes have higher requirements in this aspect compared to decorative tubes.

Welding requirements for stainless steel industrial pipes differ from those for decorative pipes. Industrial welding pipes have specific seam requirements that are not the same as decorative pipes, which only demand surface quality. The control over weld seam porosity is not stringent for decorative pipes; however, industrial welding pipes often carry liquids or gases, necessitating requirements for wall pressure and higher welding standards. Decorative pipes are not suitable for carrying liquids or gases.

Industrial pipes, while not as aesthetically pleasing as stainless steel decorative pipes, demand higher performance standards. The price of industrial pipes is higher than that of decorative pipes, even with the same GB 304 material. This is due to the fact that industrial pipes require a higher level of material quality, corrosion resistance, and capabilities to withstand extreme temperatures and high pressure, compared to decorative pipes which have less stringent requirements.
