Gabion mats are a type of gabion product. Reno mats, also known as stone cage mats, gabion mats, or green embankment mats, refer to pad-shaped engineering structures with a thickness much smaller than their length and width, composed of machine-woven double twisted hexagonal metal wire mesh surfaces. Reno mats are a type of mesh box structure with a thickness of 0.17-0.3m, which are assembled into a single unit by filling them with stones or other fill materials on-site. They are primarily used for hydraulic embankments, river channels, riverbanks, and embankment slopes to prevent erosion. Reno mats are flexible, preventing riverbanks from being damaged by water currents and waves while also facilitating natural convection exchange between water bodies and subsoil, achieving ecological balance. Planting greenery on the slope can enhance the landscape and greenery effects. The difference between gabion mats and gabion boxes or stone cage boxes lies in the lower height of the mats and their flat, large structural form; the galvanized wire diameter is thinner than that of gabions, generally available in double partition (wire diameter 2.0mm) and single partition (2.2mm) types. The double partition gabion mats are commonly used, offering advantages such as easy construction, effective prevention of stone collapse when used as slope protection, and increased erosion resistance of the structure.
