Filter plates are a crucial component in the water purification process of water plants, serving dual functions of supporting the filter material layer for filtration and backwashing water (or air) distribution. The quality of filter plates, particularly their flatness and precision, directly impacts the quality, volume, and long-term operational benefits of the filtered water in water plants. Most water purification plants built before the 1980s in China used:丰型管 (high resistance water distribution); ceramic, concrete, and plastic filter bricks (medium resistance water distribution); and porous cement boards (low resistance water distribution). In recent years, some PVC plastic and fiberglass filter plates have emerged, but regardless of the type, previous filter plate water distribution systems have significant drawbacks. Traditional filter plate water distribution systems have high resistance during filtration and backwashing, uneven distribution, numerous dead zones, and filter material is prone to caking and mud accumulation. Additionally, due to the localized washing intensity, the supporting layer can become loose, leading to adverse consequences such as sand leakage.
