Electroplating is a process that uses electrochemical methods to decorate, protect, and confer new properties to the surfaces of metals and non-metals. It is one of the industrial sectors with high versatility and broad application. The variety of electroplating processes is vast and complex, with wastewater qualities differing significantly among different enterprises. However, a common characteristic is the presence of heavy metal ions, acids, bases, and other pollutants. If not properly treated, these can cause severe environmental pollution. Common heavy metal ion pollutants include chromium, copper, nickel, zinc, and lead, while common acidic and alkaline pollutants include sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acid, and sodium hydroxide. Additionally, the wastewater contains a certain amount of organic matter and ammonia nitrogen.

The primary sources of electroplating wastewater include cleaning of plated parts, floor flushing, suspension equipment and anode plate flushing, among others. The main sources of electroplating sludge are the replacement of spent solution. Cleaning wastewater of plated parts is one of the major sources of electroplating wastewater, accounting for over 80% of the total waste water emissions from production. Various pollutants are introduced into the cleaning wastewater of plated parts by the spent solution adhering to the plated parts' surfaces. Floor flushing in the workshop and other processes such as laboratory analysis also generate a small amount of wastewater.

Based on the current characteristics of electroplating wastewater quality in China, and in conjunction with existing wastewater treatment technologies, an automated electroplating wastewater treatment device has been developed. It employs widely-used oxidation-reduction and chemical precipitation treatment processes internationally, which is significantly superior to conventional methods such as "ion exchange," "air flotation," and "electrolysis."

The automated electroplating wastewater treatment equipment utilizes an intelligent dosing system and PLC control for automatic operation, with online instruments controlling the automatic addition of chemicals. It boasts advantages such as low investment, minimal dosage, and simple operation and maintenance.

Key Features

1. PLC control, automated operation, stable performance, reliable water quality compliance.

2. Intelligent dosing system with online instrument automatic monitoring, automatically dispensing medication to save on pharmaceuticals.

Investment-friendly with minimal land usage.

4. Operation and maintenance are simple and convenient.

Scope of Application

Integrated equipment processing capacity: 1-100 m³/day

Project Volume: 100-10,000 m³/day

3. Treatment for heavy metal wastewater containing chromium, copper, nickel, zinc, and other metals, cyanide wastewater, and acidic or alkaline wastewater, applicable to various electroplating and other industries.

System Composition

1. Wastewater Regulation Pool: Collects wastewater, equalizes water volume and quality, and regularly cleans the settled sludge within the regulation pool.

2. Reactor Vessel: Serving as the core component of the treatment system, oxidation-reduction and chemical precipitation reactions take place within the reactor vessel, converting heavy metal ions into precipitates for removal from the wastewater.

3. Chemical dosing system: The roller adds acids, alkalis, reducers, flocculants, and other chemicals into the reaction tank based on feedback from online instruments.

4. Online Instrumentation System: To ensure the system operates effectively, an online instrumentation system must be set up for parameter control, including flow meters, water meters, and online pH/orp meters.

5. Sludge Pressing System: Comprising a sludge pump and plate and frame press filter for solid-liquid separation.

6. Electric Control Device: Primarily controls the feed pump, dosing pump, and plate and frame filter press, available in both manual and automatic control modes. The feed pump operates automatically under PLC control, based on the reaction tank's water level. The dosing pump runs intermittently according to the online pH/orp set values, and automatically stops when the dosing tank's water level is low.
