1. Diesel generator sets must be installed in well-ventilated locations. The generator end should have sufficient intake vents, while the diesel engine end should have good exhaust outlets. The exhaust outlet area should be more than 1.5 times larger than the radiator area.
2. The installation site of the diesel generator set should be kept clean, and items that can produce corrosive gases and vapors such as acidic and alkaline substances should be avoided nearby. Fire extinguishing equipment should be provided if possible.
3. When used indoors, the exhaust duct must be routed to the outside, with a pipe diameter of at least equal to the exhaust diameter of the silencer. The bends in the connected pipeline should not exceed three to ensure smooth exhaust flow, and the pipe should be inclined downward by 5-10 degrees to prevent rainwater from entering. If the exhaust pipe is installed vertically upwards, a rain shield must be added.
4. The outer shell of diesel generator sets must have a reliable protective grounding. For generators that require direct grounding of the neutral point, neutral grounding must be performed by professionals, and lightning protection devices must be installed. It is strictly prohibited to use the grounding facilities of the municipal power supply for direct grounding of the neutral point. The bidirectional switch with the municipal power supply must be extremely reliable to prevent back-feeding. The wiring reliability of the bidirectional switch must pass the inspection and approval of the local power supply department.
5. Older diesel generator sets require concrete foundations and must be leveled during installation using a level to ensure the unit is securely mounted on a level base. Anti-vibration pads or base bolts should be used between the generator set and the foundation. Modern diesel generators, however, do not need concrete foundations due to improvements in the design of the units, which have flat ground surfaces and are equipped with vibration dampers, making them very convenient.
