Radon is a colorless, odorless, monatomic inert gas under standard conditions, with a density of 9.73 kg/m³. It becomes a liquid at -65°C, with a density of 5.7x10³ kg/m³, and has a vaporization heat of 4325 cal/mol. Further cooling to -71°C transforms it into a lustrous orange-yellow solid. Radon is a decay product of the radioactive decay series of natural uranium and thorium, itself being radioactive and emitting an alpha particle, decaying into radon daughters, with a half-life of 3.825 days. The measurement of radon can be used to explore uranium and thorium ore deposits and for oil exploration, holding significant importance in the search for clean energy.
