Polyurea spray is a system that reacts instantly and cures rapidly, but this does not mean that the physical properties of the polyurea are immediately achieved upon completion of the spray. Due to the fast reaction rate of polyurea and the release of a large amount of heat, the polyurea coating experiences significant internal stress in the early stages of cross-linking. The release of this internal stress requires time, hence the physical properties of polyurea do not quickly reach high values.
Additionally, polyurea reactions are rapid addition polymerization reactions. If a slow curing reaction occurs, it will inevitably affect the use of polyurea materials. Therefore, the polyurea coating should be allowed to cure for 12 hours or even longer before it can be put into use, otherwise material damage is likely.
