What are the maintenance and care requirements for conveyer belts?

Conveyor belts should be kept clean during transportation and storage, avoiding direct sunlight or exposure to rain and snow. They should also be prevented from contacting substances like acids, alkalis, oils, and organic solvents, and should be kept more than one meter away from heating devices.


The storage temperature for conveyors in the warehouse should be maintained between -18°C to 40°C, with relative humidity between 50% to 80%.


During storage, the conveyor belts must be neatly stacked; they should not be folded or placed haphazardly. For long-term storage, they should be turned over once every quarter.


It is not advisable to connect conveyors of different types, manufacturers, or layer specifications together. The joints should preferably be bonded with adhesive and secured with reliable mechanical fasteners. When splicing, maintain the overlap surface perpendicular to the lengthwise direction of the conveyor belt.


The type, structure, specifications, and layers of conveyer belts should be used rationally based on the operating conditions. In the glass manufacturing industry, conveyer belts generally require flame-retardant, anti-cutting, and high-temperature resistance; while in the oil, grain, and food industry, they typically require oil control, anti-static, flame-retardant, and non-toxic properties.


Conveyor belts typically should not run faster than 2.5 m/s, and for materials with large particle sizes and high abrasiveness, low-speed conveying is recommended.


The diameter of the drive roller in the drum conveyor should be appropriately matched with the core layer of the conveyor belt. The matching of the drive and redirection rollers, as well as the requirements for the trough angle of the supporting rollers, should all be reasonably adopted according to the design specifications of the conveyor.


The feeding direction should align with the running direction of the conveyor belt. To minimize the impact of the material as it falls, it is advisable to use chutes and reduce the falling distance of the material. The spacing of the idlers below the feeding section of the conveyor belt should be shortened, and buffer idlers (or other cushioning devices) should be used. The conveyor belt should be fitted with soft and moderate挡料板 to prevent the挡料板 from being too hard and scratching the belt surface.


Proactively identify and repair the mechanical damage sites on conveyor belts to prevent rapid expansion of the damage.


To prevent the roller from being covered by material, causing friction on the conveyor belt due to poor return, and to avoid material leakage getting caught between the roller and belt, pay attention to the lubrication of the moving parts of the conveyor belt, but do not soil the belt with oil.


Reduce and prevent belt conveyor load startups.


Conveyor belts that veer off course should be corrected promptly to prevent deformation and damage caused by uneven belt tension.


Prevent the conveyor belt from being blocked by frames, pillars, or bulk materials to avoid abrasions and tears.


If adhesives are present, opt for a high-efficiency and reliable sweeper to prevent mechanical cuts on the conveyor belt from inferior or homemade sweepers.


Opt for drums equipped with headwheel rubber (headwheel lining) to prevent incorrect installation or damage to the conveyor belt caused by accessories (such as buckets, bucket bolts, etc.).
