On October 15th, the reporter learned from the High-tech Industrial Development Zone Administration Committee that the China Western Agricultural Products Cold Chain Logistics Center, located within the Western International Agricultural Logistics Park, has officially commenced operations. Currently, 150,000 tons of cold storage warehouses and a 55,000 square meter trading market have been put into use, with over 300 merchants signing入驻 agreements. After a one-and-a-half-month trial operation, the total sales volume of wholesale and retail businesses has reached 1.195 billion yuan as of now.

The western China agricultural product cold chain logistics center is planned to cover an area of 800 acres, with a total floor area of 930,000 square meters, including 500,000 square meters for cold storage (capacity of 500,000 tons), 200,000 square meters for a trading market, 110,000 square meters for processing workshops, 30,000 square meters for a logistics distribution center, 30,000 square meters for a business center, and 60,000 square meters for other supporting facilities. The center has already constructed three individual cold storage warehouses with a capacity of 50,000 tons each and a trading market of 55,000 square meters. Chen Jiande, the general manager of Chongqing Mingpinfu Logistics Company responsible for the project, stated that by the end of next March, another cold storage facility with a capacity of 80,000 tons and a trading market of 48,000 square meters will be completed. By the end of next year, the first phase of the plan is expected to be completed, featuring a 300,000-ton cold storage, a 100,000-square-meter trading market, a 24,000-square-meter processing workshop, and a dry goods warehouse.

"By then, not only will the total capacity of our city's cold storage facilities at least double, but it will also completely transform the existing cold chain structure in our city," said Chen Jiande. "Upon completion of the project, the Cold Chain Logistics Center for Agricultural Products in Western China will become the largest, most advanced, and most comprehensive in the region, integrating cold storage and processing, logistics distribution, trade circulation, and third-party cold chain logistics for seafood, meat products, and agricultural by-products."

Furthermore, upon completion of the project, it will directly provide 10,000 job opportunities and indirectly create 20,000 more. The annual turnover aims to exceed 30 billion yuan.
