Harbin, China, October 17 (Correspondent Zhang Long, Reporter Wang Dongliang) The reporter learned today from the Harbin Railway Bureau that the "Longjiang-Mengdong Express Freight" corridor, launched in September, has been operating for a full month. In the first month of operation, a total of 2.638 million pieces of goods were transported, weighing 53,653 tons. After lifting numerous restrictions on the weight and categories of transported goods, a fast express network for scattered goods connecting the provinces of Heilongjiang and the eastern part of Inner Mongolia has officially been established.

Starting from September 15th this year, the Harbin Railway Bureau has launched 7 "Longjiang-Mengdong Express Freight" trains in six directions, with a total of 112 freight handling stations, creating a fast freight network connecting Harbin, Qiqihar, Mudanjiang, Jiamusi, and the Mengdong Hulunbeier, Manzhouli, and Daxing'anling regions. Due to the low energy consumption, high carrying capacity, and low-cost transportation advantages of the railway, many customers are already switching to railway transportation from difficult and expensive road routes. Major domestic logistics companies such as SF Express and YTO Express have also officially entered into cooperation with the railway department.

According to Wang Hanjie, Deputy Station Chief of Binjiang Station of Harbin Railway Bureau, to expand the network coverage of "Longjiang-Mengdong Express Cargo," and facilitate customers in shipping, the Harbin Railway Bureau has established over a hundred "Longjiang-Mengdong Express Cargo" collection points within its jurisdiction. Customers can handle express shipping services at 1,100 stations across the entire railway network, forming a nationwide express cargo delivery network.

The relevant official from Harbin Railway Bureau told the China News Service reporter, "In light of the operation of the 'Longjiang-Mengdong Express Freight' for a month, the Harbin Railway Bureau has optimized and adjusted the train operation plan. For the branch lines such as Nancha to Wuyiling, Jiamusi to Shuangyashan, Qianjin Town, Beian to Fuyu, Mudanjiang to Dongjingcheng, and Jixi to Dongfanghong, both passenger and freight trains are being used to transport express goods, extending the express network to these branches and remote areas. With the arrival of the severe winter cold, the role of railway freight express in reducing social logistics costs will become more prominent."

At the cargo yard of Harbin East Railway Station, a cargo owner named Lin told the reporter of China News Service, "I've been in the logistics and transportation business for many years. In the past, it took at least five working days to book a train car on the railway, which was really inefficient for our industry. Moreover, there were many restrictions on railway cargo transportation, with many items not allowed to be shipped by train. Now it's different; orders placed on the same day can be dispatched immediately, and the number of destinations is increasing. The railway advantage for intra-provincial logistics transportation is tremendous now, and the safety during winter is much higher than that of road transportation. Once we load the trucks, we can rest easy without any worries."

According to Liu Zhenyong, Deputy Station Master of Harbin East Railway Station, the "Longjiang-Mengdong Express Freight Service" has removed all restrictions on the type, weight, volume, quantity, and batch size of goods. Excluding goods prohibited by law, it now accepts all kinds of loose goods without discrimination, and all are handled based on actual weight or volume. The railway department will also dynamically track the level of road freight rates, implement a market-oriented charging standard within the scope allowed by policies, and publicly announce it, achieving a completely clear one-price quote and one-time collection, making the freight rates better align with the market.
