*New statistics from the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Economy and Information show that as of the end of last year, the total logistics value and value added of the logistics industry in the province accounted for 9.5% and 9.9% of the national total, respectively. The ratio of total logistics costs to GDP was 2.37 percentage points lower than the national average. The province has 148 logistics companies with main business income exceeding 1 billion yuan, and the number of bonded areas ranks among the top in the country.
"Modern logistics is no longer just about traditional functions like transportation and warehousing, but rather a professional and integrated logistics that sits above third-party logistics." Governor Shi Heping of Jiangsu Province pointed out at the on-site promotion meeting for the development of the logistics industry in the province. Currently, the development of Jiangsu's logistics industry faces several prominent issues, such as relatively small scale, high costs, low levels of organization and intensification, and low technical standards. Against this backdrop, it is imperative to quickly establish new service concepts like the supply chain and accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the province's logistics industry.
Governor Li Xueyong of Jiangsu Province stated that the logistics industry is a composite service industry integrating transportation, warehousing, freight forwarding, and information sectors. It is an essential part of modern service industries. Accelerating the development of modern logistics plays a vital role in promoting industrial structure adjustment, establishing a modern industrial system, and transforming the mode of economic development.
Currently, Jiangsu has taken the lead in the country in implementing logistics statistical accounting, establishing a logistics index system, and systematically analyzing and monitoring the province's logistics operations; it has also established a modern logistics联动 development mechanism and corporate alliance between Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai provinces and cities; and has formed a multi-type and multi-level bonded logistics system, including inland comprehensive bonded zones, bonded port areas, bonded logistics centers, direct customs supervision points, public bonded warehouses, and export supervision warehouses.
Shi Heping stated that in the future, Jiangsu Province will focus on industrial upgrading, actively develop third-party logistics, and encourage resource integration and service extension for existing transportation, warehousing, freight forwarding, combined transportation, and express companies. It aims to accelerate the transformation into modern logistics enterprises and foster a unified, open, and smooth modern logistics market system.
