Hydrophilic polyurethane bio-filler is a new type of bio-filler synthesized from high polymer materials. It combines large pores and micropores in polyurethane fillers, with large pores maintaining good contact conditions for gas, liquid, and solid, and micropores used for immobilizing microorganisms. These micropores contain hydrophilic active groups such as amino, carboxyl, and epoxy groups, which can form ionic or covalent bonds with certain active groups in the microbial peptide chains, thereby immobilizing microorganisms and biological enzymes on the carrier. The density of the bio-filler after immobilizing microorganisms is close to that of water, with a high microbial load, high volumetric load, and a large specific surface area. Due to its structural characteristics, polyurethane fillers can facilitate mixing and contact exchange between wastewater, air, and biofilms. Biofilms not only settle in large quantities within the microbial carriers, maintaining good activity and porosity variability, but also, during operation, gases are continuously sheared into smaller bubbles by the蠕动状态的 microbial fillers driven by the three-dimensional flow of wastewater, increasing oxygen utilization and reducing aeration requirements.
