Flat membrane aeration disks are a new type of aeration device developed in the 1980s. These devices feature small bubble diameters, small gas-liquid interface diameters, and a large gas-liquid interface area, resulting in uniform bubble diffusion and no clogging of holes. They are highly corrosion-resistant. They have been tested for oxygenation of both clean and wastewater by the Environmental Engineering College of Tongji University in Shanghai and the North China Design Institute of Municipal Engineering, and have been used effectively by over 50 customers for many years (reducing energy consumption by 40% compared to conventional fixed screw aeration devices, diffuser aeration devices, and perforated pipe aeration devices, or increasing wastewater treatment capacity by 40%). They are particularly suitable for new and expanded urban wastewater treatment plants and the renovation of old aeration ponds, and the aeration ponds can operate intermittently.
