The Golden Yellow Guardrails along Chang'an Avenue have sparked a wave of Beijing-style golden guardrail fashion across the nation. The golden guardrails along Chang'an Avenue were specifically replaced to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and World Anti-Fascist War. These new guardrails, infused with Chinese elements, reflect the harmonious unity of the ancient city of Beijing's street and road landscapes. The new guardrails extend from the east of the Fuxingmen to the west of the Jianguomen along both sides of the road, from Xidan to Dongdan in the crossroads, from Fuyou Street to Wenjin Street in the north, and from Nan Chang Street to Xihua Gate Avenue. The total length of the guardrail replacement is 18,482 meters, including 14,945 meters of pedestrian guardrails and 3,537 meters of slow-speed lane guardrails. Before the new guardrails, the guardrails along Beijing's Chang'an Avenue had already been replaced with golden guardrails. In May 2014, the 7-kilometer-long barrier along the western Chang'an Avenue in Beijing was replaced with golden guardrails, each weighing over 100 kilograms. The gold spray paint on the surface uses fluorocarbon paint spray technology, characterized by high strength and corrosion resistance. If an accident occurs and a vehicle collides with the guardrails, they will automatically bounce back to their original position due to their flexibility. So, do the new guardrails added to the charm of Chang'an Avenue have such powerful functions? It is reported that the new guardrails are made of large-scale stainless steel, each weighing 80 kilograms, with strong bending resistance, good weather resistance, and corrosion resistance, and are as collision-resistant as the "gold digger" isolation guardrails. At the same time, the guardrails are coated with automotive baking paint, which is resistant to corrosion, weather changes, and sunlight, and may not require repainting for at least 5 to 10 years. The guardrail manufacturer producing the guardrails for Chang'an Avenue has been redesigned, strictly following the railing specifications, researching various road guardrail styles at home and abroad, and the design team referred to representative landmark buildings such as the Forbidden City, combining numerous Chinese elements to study the main structure scheme. The new guardrails are designed to match the central guardrails of Chang'an Avenue, emphasizing the scenic features, enhancing historical and cultural expressions, and improving the overall landscape image of Chang'an Avenue. The new guardrails adhere to the style characteristics of "majestic, stable, heavy, and grand." The pedestrian guardrails adopt a栅栏式 structure with insertion-type connections, decorated with lotus and auspicious cloud shapes; the main color is antique bronze, utilizing automotive baking paint and fluorocarbon paint spray; the material is made of large-scale stainless steel, with strong bending resistance, good weather resistance, and corrosion resistance. The lotus, also known as the lotus flower, symbolizes harmony, and the lotus flower's purity amidst mud signifies the independence of the Chinese nation; the auspicious cloud shape represents good luck. While ensuring practical functions, the guardrails highlight the scenic features and add expressions of history and culture.
