Cutting Propagation Technique

(1) Insertion Time: Generally, insertion is done in spring. For poplar cuttings, the formation and establishment of new roots require certain temperature conditions. Covering the soil with a plastic film on the bed ensures soil moisture and increases temperature. Based on experience, we recommend using black plastic film, as it inhibits weed growth. The cuttings should be soaked in water for 24 hours before insertion.

(2) Insertion Method: Generally, straight insertion is required; slanting insertion is not allowed. Perform hand insertion by directly inserting from the film into the soil, with the top slightly elevated about 0.5cm above the film. After insertion, apply sufficient soil pressure on the film to prevent wind damage.

(3) Planting Density: 60 inches between rows, 30-35 inches between plants, with 3,100-3,700 plants per acre.
