DC Torque Motor is a specialized type of permanent magnet brushless synchronous motor. Due to the direct connection of the load to the rotor, no transmission components are required, making torque motors part of direct drive technology. Torque motors are also known as "frameless" motors, meaning they have no housing, bearings, or measurement system. These components are selected by the machine manufacturer based on the required performance, or purchased as a complete set.

The torque motor employs a permanent magnet brushless motor design, consisting of a ring-shaped stator and a ring-shaped rotor. The stator does not use a toothed lamination design but is made up of smooth cylindrical laminations. The rotor is composed of multi-pole rare earth permanent magnet poles and a ring-shaped hollow shaft. This structure is characterized by a larger air gap and a uniform magnetic resistance throughout the entire working air gap, thus endowing the motor with the advantage of zero-slot torque.
