Voice coil linear motors, also known as Lorentz motors or scanner motors, are named for their structure resembling a loudspeaker's voice coil. They are fast-response direct-drive motors featuring zero magnetic hysteresis, zero magnetic cogging effects, high frequency response, high acceleration, high speed, good force characteristics, ease of control, compact size, and small resolution. Abroad, voice coil motors are considered excellent servo drives. Depending on the configuration of the drive, feedback, controller, and control algorithms, voice coil motors typically achieve motion frequencies of 500-1000Hz, and even higher.

Flat-type voice coil motors have a shorter stroke than rectangular voice coil motors in the same volume, but their advantage is a lower profile. They offer a thrust of up to 500N and a stroke of 25mm. The flat series is an ideal product for generating short stroke X-Y motion, primarily targeting the semiconductor and micro-machine tool industries.

Voice coil motors come in cylindrical, rectangular, and angular-pivot types, which are common. However, voice coil motors can be customized with special structures, such as integrating the magnet steel as part of the housing, placing the coil in a different location, or modifying the coil shape, and creating a magnet steel with a unique structure—all of which are achievable. Often, people get stuck within this scope for voice coil motors, but they can be improved to meet your specific requirements.
