Voice coil linear motors, also known as Lorentz motors or scanner motors, derive their name from their structure resembling the voice coil of a speaker. They are a high-speed, direct-drive motor with zero magnetic hysteresis and cogging effects, offering high-frequency response, acceleration, speed, good force characteristics, ease of control, compact size, and low resolution. Internationally, voice coil motors are considered an excellent servo drive. Depending on the configuration of the drive, feedback, controller, and control algorithm, voice coil motors typically achieve a motion frequency of 500-1000 Hz, and even higher.

Cylindrical solenoid motors, due to their ability to provide high thrust and speed, are widely used. These motors can generate powerful forces ranging from 0.7N to 2500N, thus occupying 80% or more of the market, with a stroke generally not exceeding 50mm.

The air-bearing platform equipped with a voice coil motor utilizes air-bearing guides for stable operation. This levitation is achieved through pressure air introduced into the bearing cavity, with extremely small pressure relief gaps, ensuring the levitation of the rotating shaft. High speed, zero friction; no wear; no need for lubrication; excellent speed control performance; and noiseless. Due to the numerous advantages of the air-bearing guides, more and more application fields are now using air bearings to replace conventional mechanical bearings.
