Magna-Mike 8600 Hall Effect Thickness Gauge for measuring thickness of non-magnetic materials

The Magna-Mike 8600 is a portable thickness gauge that reliably and repeatably measures the thickness of non-ferrous materials using a simple magnetic method. The operation of the Magna-Mike instrument is very straightforward. During measurement, press or move the magnetic probe against one side of the material being measured, and place a small target steel ball (or target disc, target steel wire) on the other side of the material or inside a container. The Hall effect sensor in the probe measures the distance from the probe tip to the target steel ball. The measured distance is immediately displayed on the screen in easy-to-read large, colorful digital numbers.

Measurement thickness range is from 0.001mm to 25.4mm

Plastic bottles, glass bottles, and packaging containers

In the application of measuring the wall thickness of plastic containers, users simply place a small target steel ball into the container. A magnetic probe attached to the outer side of the container will attract the target steel ball. As the probe moves over the container's outer surface or at critical rounded corners, the small steel ball moves along with the probe. In the minimum mode, the thickness gauge continuously displays the current thickness value and the minimum thickness value.

Rip缝 in vehicles

The Magna-Mike 8600 thickness gauge, with standard probes, a target disc, and a replaceable chisel-type abrasion tip, is capable of measurements in narrow channels or grooves, making it highly suitable for most automotive crack detection applications.

Applications in aerospace and other fields

The Magna-Mike thickness gauge has been successfully applied in quality control programs within the aerospace industry, measuring components made of composite and non-ferrous materials. Target steel wires can be inserted into the cooling holes of turbine blades, while larger magnetic target steel balls are used for measuring components of jet engines up to 25.4 mm thick.

Built-in alphanumeric data recorder

The Magna-Mike instrument is equipped with an expandable alphanumeric data recorder based on files, designed for easy storage and transmission of thickness readings.

Data recorders can store thickness readings in the following 4 standard file formats: incremental, sequential, sequential with custom points, and two-dimensional raster.

  • You can use WINXL to send data directly to Excel data tables in either individual send format or file format.

  • Send data to other SPC programs

  • USB and RS-232 dual outputs

  • Export the file in .txt or CSV format to an insertable microSD card.

  • Create airborne reports
