Olympus/Olympus Bar Stock Automatic Eddy Current Array Inspection System Automatic surface inspection of billets using eddy current array technology For many years, the metal manufacturing industry has required surface inspection of longer bars and tubes. The requirements for material quality and performance continually change with the different types, orientations, and sizes of surface defects. While various techniques can be used to detect surface defects, the eddy current array (ECA) technology stands out due to its ability to accommodate various geometries and deviations in both ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic products. This Bar Inspection System (BIS) employs Electromagnetic Eddy Current Array (ECA) technology to inspect the entire surface of round bars and billets. The system is equipped with abrasion boots, which ensure that the ECA probe remains in the proper position regardless of the bar's straightness variation. Design Objective Inspect round bars and square billets Carbon steel and stainless steel grades Rough surface or peeled surface Round bar diameter range: 16 mm to 254 mm The billet size range: 20 mm to 254 mm Reference Defects: -- Surface grooves Key System Features Key features of the Olympus Bar Material Inspection System include: High detection efficiency High detection speed (up to 2 meters/second) Versatile system, capable of quick reconfiguration for various detection applications: -- Fully Automatic Dimension Change Completion -- Quickly complete the mechanical conversion -- Quick Access to Predefined Test Settings Software Wizard Tool for creating new detection settings Quality Inspect the surface of the rod material: ECA Technology The system's mechanical design ensures that the probe is always in the optimized position under varying straightness of the bar material. -- Abrasion-resistant boots for ECA probe Can inspect bar material for end bending without damaging mechanical components. Mechanical systems help reduce the blind area at the ends of rods (±20mm).
