Product Details

Applicable to Austenitic, nickel, and other coarse-grained alloys.OMNISCAN MX2 Corrosion-Resistant Clad Material Phased Array Inspection

The Olympus OMNISCAN MX2 is a modular phased array inspection device featuring both TOFD and phased array series modules, catering to diverse customer needs. It also allows for upgrading from lower to higher functionality modules, thereby saving customers' costs.

The applications of OMNISCAN MX2 are numerous, including:

  • Carbon steel weld seam TOFD and phased array inspections

  • Phased Array Corrosion Detection

  • Composite Material Phased Array C-Scan

  • Stainless Steel Weld Seam TOFD and Phased Array Inspection

  • Bolt Phased Array Inspection

A brief introduction to the application of OMNISCAN MX2 for detecting stainless steel weld seams

Austenitic and nickel-based alloy welding metals, as well as coarse-grained anisotropic materials, can affect the propagation of ultrasonic waves, leading to beam deformation, scattering, mode conversion, and significantly increased attenuation. Consequently, compared to the shear wave detection performed on low-alloy carbon steel, the signal-to-noise ratio obtained is poorer. Inspection of these materials requires a dual crystal phased array probe with a refractive longitudinal wave (RL) wedge block, which is designed to acoustically isolate the transmitter and receiver beams to improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the defects and eliminate the wedge block's echo. Olympus' DLA (dual crystal linear array) and DMA (dual matrix) probes, when paired with removable wedges, can combine different detection techniques such as direct longitudinal waves, creeping waves, round-trip time sequence (RTT), and other multi-mode techniques into a single phased array S-scan image for full-volume weld inspection.

Dual Crystal Array Probes (DMA/DLA)

A dual crystal array probe consists of two phased array probes connected to the same connector. The chips of these probes can be arranged in a matrix or linear array. One probe performs a sector scan, while the other collects echoes from defects.

Features
Compatible with the COBRA scanner, capable of inspecting small-diameter pipes.
Optimized for testing extremely thick materials.
Conduct general-purpose inspections, featuring superior overall performance and near-surface resolution

Dual Crystal Standard UT (TRL) Probe A27

The standard dual crystal UT probe is suitable for surface wave testing. When used with a DMA probe, it can fully cover the weld. It enhances the versatility and stability of testing for pipes of different diameters when paired with a removable chisel.

NDT SetupBuilder software

The latest version of NDT SetupBuilder software adds DMA/DLA probes and wedges, enabling the direct import of weld bevel and scan plan configuration files into OmniScan flaw detectors with the PR option.
