We've compiled the following waterproof tile application principles for you:
1. The materials used ensure the bonding strength between the waterproof coating and the base layer. Do not force the application if the base layer surface is not able to be sandblasted to meet construction requirements.
2. The wall waterproofing layer is chosen to use more rigid waterproof coatings, such as Langkaiqi L-185, EZ610, etc.
3. After applying the waterproofing layer, apply a layer of cement mortar. Once the cement mortar is set without any hollows, adhere the tiles to the cement mortar surface.
4. When laying tiles, do not cover from bottom to top in one go; instead, divide it into two to three stages. Wait until the adhesive hardens and the tiles are firmly attached before proceeding to the next stage.
5. On polymer-cement waterproof coatings, if the traditional thick-laminating method is used, such as using cement mortar to adhere tiles, the water-cement ratio should be strictly controlled, and gaps should be left without early filling to prevent the waterproof coating from being continuously soaked in water, leading to poor bonding strength. The cement mortar itself (thickness of 2~5cm) plus the weight of the tiles, which can exceed 20~40kg per square meter, far exceeds the load that the waterproof coating can bear, inevitably causing the tiles to peel off from the waterproof layer on vertical surfaces.
