Maintenance and inspection
1. A monthly inspection or prior to major holidays is required for fire hydrants.
2. Clean debris around the valve rod end, fit the handle cover onto the rod head, check for a proper fit, turn the valve rod, and apply lubricant.
3. Wipe away rust from the outlet thread with an oil sand cloth, check if the rubber gasket inside the cap is intact. Open the fire hydrant, inspect the water supply, close it after draining the rusty water, and observe for any leakage.
4. Paint chipping should be promptly repaired.
5. Inspect and remove any obstructions near the fire hydrants.
